Common Questions
Does physical damage cover my trailer as well as my truck?
Yes — we write physical damage coverage for both your truck and trailer, either on the same policy or separately. Make sure your trailer is specifically listed and the stated value reflects its replacement cost.
What deductible should I choose?
Common deductibles range from $1,000 to $5,000. A higher deductible lowers your annual premium but increases out-of-pocket exposure after a loss. Most hot shot truckers choose $2,500–$5,000 deductibles to balance cost with risk.
What is stated value vs. actual cash value?
Stated value means you declare a value at policy inception and the insurer pays up to that amount (minus depreciation). Actual cash value pays the depreciated market value at time of loss. For newer equipment, stated value may protect you better.
Does physical damage cover theft of my truck?
Comprehensive coverage (part of physical damage) covers theft of your truck. It also covers fire, weather events, falling objects, and vandalism. Collision coverage handles collision-related damage specifically.
